Dual purpose kerosene (DPK) can be used as aviation fuel, cooking oil, and heating oil, hence the name “dual purpose kerosene”. Kerosene is still the most popular cooking oil used in the United States because it is relatively affordable and not highly combustible. The bulk of the refinery produced kerosene is high quality aviation turbine fuel (Avtur) used by the jet engines of the domestic and international airlines.
